AirAsia welcomes the Malaysian government’s decision in allowing interstate and interdistrict travel within the country beginning 7 December 2020.

Your health and safety is always our top priority. As we return to the skies, you have our commitment that AirAsia practises stringent health and hygiene procedures onboard our aircraft and is stepping up all precautionary measures, to ensure you have a safe journey with us.

AirAsia is working closely with regulators, local governments, civil aviation and health authorities, while adhering to their expert advice.

Before travelling, we ask all guests to adhere to the following important travel advice:

  • First and foremost, please ensure that you are eligible to travel before booking any flight. Please refer here to check on travel restrictions and special requirements.

  • All AirAsia guests are required to wear a mask before, during and after the flight, including during check-in and bag collection.

  • Guests will be able to carry one (1) cabin bag not exceeding the dimensions of 56cm (H) x 36cm (W) x 23cm (D) or maximum linear of 115cm and must fit in the overhead storage compartment in the aircraft cabin, AND one (1) laptop bag or one (1) small bag not exceeding the dimensions of 40cm (H) x 30cm (W) x 10cm (D) or maximum linear of 80cm and must fit under the seat in front of you. For more information about the latest updated cabin baggage allowance, please visit here.

  • Please arrive early at the airport - preferably 3 hours before departure - to allow for enough time for all the necessary processes to take place.

To ensure that the highest standards of safety and hygiene are maintained at all times, here are some of the additional measures that AirAsia is taking on the ground and in the air, to ensure your health and wellbeing:

Aircraft cleaning:

  • Aircraft will undergo regular disinfection including a deep clean using cleaning agents in accordance with Airbus Aircraft maintenance Manual (AMM) performed by professional cleaning teams.

  • Every night stop, aircraft go through a thorough 2-hour deep cleaning process, in compliance with instructions from health authorities. For more information on aircraft disinfection, click here.

Pre-flight:

  • Temperature screening will take place at different checkpoints, including boarding gates.

  • Cabin crew will undergo temperature checks before and after every shift.

  • Guests are advised to observe high standards of personal hygiene. Face masks must be worn at all times and hands must be washed or sanitised frequently.

  • Guests are required to kindly observe the seat signage and floor markers at queuing areas, including check-in counters and kiosks.

  • Use contactless web and mobile check-in: enhanced features on airasia mobile app, contactless check-in and payment kiosks at the airport and a Passenger Reconciliation System (PRS) are now in place to help ensure a smooth and safe travel experience.

  • Hand sanitisers will be available throughout the various journey processing points for guests and staff.

  • For the benefit of our guests and to ensure their safety, we will be boarding the aircraft from the back to the front. This means we will be boarding Zone 2 followed by Zone 3 and finally Zone 1. By having Zone 2 board first, this will allow these guests to have minimum contact with guests in Zone 3 and 1. This will also enable us to ensure all guests observe the staggered boarding policy.

In-flight :

  • All of our A320 aircraft are equipped with High Efficiency Particulate Arrestors, also known as the HEPA Filters, similar to ones you would find in a hospital operating theatre. These filter out 99.99% of dust particles and airborne contaminants including viruses and bacteria. Every three minutes the air in the cabin is completely refreshed, so you’re breathing the highest possible quality of air throughout the flight.

  • All cabin crew will be wearing protective equipment including masks and gloves.

  • All meals are produced and packaged hygienically following strict food safety requirements.

  • All production staff will be regularly monitored on COVID-19 guidelines and Cabin crew handling menu items will wear disposable gloves.

  • Cabin crew are well trained to assist with any medical situation inflight including identification and isolation of anyone onboard who may feel unwell.

  • Temperature checks will occur before arrival to destinations where temperature screening is mandatory.

Arrival :

  • Thermal screening will take place upon arrival.

  • Transit passengers may be asked to stay at the airport.

  • Mandatory quarantine may take place as per regulations at your destination country.

HOW CAN YOU DO YOUR PART?

We’re 100% operations ready to deliver a great AirAsia safe travel experience and will do everything we can to ensure your health and safety. We kindly ask that you observe the universally recommended protective precautionary measures, including practising high personal hygiene at all times.
